The Future of the Garrard-Del Rio Administration Could Be Decided This Season!
2010 may indeed be the season that determines the fate of the Jacksonville Jaguar’s two main men- QB David Garrad & Head Coach Jack Del Rio. The Jags have a great deal of momentum heading into this season including an enthusiastic, supportive fan base and what should prove –to-be a much stronger O line and Defense. During the off season it has been reported that Garrard has sharpened his leadership skills and initiated team-building dinners with the players. He has realized that an off-the-field relationship with his teammates will increase his player’s desire to fight for him -on the field. That should help his chances but the fans will demand more than mediocrity and a slightly improved Season. The fans want and deserve leadership, excellence, and most of all Passion- and it may be now or never!
The same can be said for Jack Del Rio. He made Garrard his QB1 in 2007 after releasing Byron Leftwich and put his fate as Head Coach in the hands of Garrard. His double down wager may have one season left to prove himself. The fans want the aforementioned passion and leadership out of Del Rio!

They want his hat to be thrown during bad calls, they want him in his players face after great and terrible plays, they want to know and see that he cares! They want the guy who had the same whotspa to bet on Garrard to show up every Sunday and lead his team with some fire in the belly.
Granted it may not have been either of their style in the past-but it is now time for some PDP- public display of passion- that is, if they want to stay in teal and black!
Over 12,000 fans gather at EverBank Field to watch the Jaguars Scrimmage
If last night’s scrimmage at EverBank Field is any indication of what’s in store for the 2010 season, then the Jacksonville Jaguars and the city of Jacksonville will have much to celebrate.
Thousands gathered last night to watch their 2010 Jacksonville Jaguars. But, you could sense that it was far more than just a scrimmage. These are the fans who have heard critics, national sports writers and national networks say that the Jaguars will be leaving the river city within a matter of time. These are the fans who took it upon themselves to buy season tickets and encourage friends and family to do the same. These are the fans who have bought into “Revive the Pride” and are proud members of Team Teal.
12,482 strong for a team scrimmage? I’m going to go out on a limb and proclaim that not many of the other 32 NFL cities can match the ”mojo” that was in the air at EverBank Field last night.
The players ran out on to the field with excitement. David Garrard had his offense in a huddle jumping up and down while point to the stands. As if to say, “look fellas they are here”. I think the fans and the organization have finally come to the conclusion that they both need one another.
While it is still early and many things can happen, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the fans are a unified front. You can expect opening day against the Broncos to be like a play-off atmosphere. You can expect a full stadium, a hungry team, and a re-energized fan base.
There were a few plays and players who definitely stood out. Continue reading below. (more…)
Dear Jacksonville: Yes We Can! Now is the Time to Change our Culture-Once & for All!
First things first…Rookie Defensive Tackle and first round draft pick Tyson Alualu has officially signed a 5 year-28 M contract (17.5 million guaranteed) with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Alualu has been in Jacksonville for less than 24 hours and already the air is a lil fresher on the First Coast. He is soft spoken with a positive and determined demeanor…. which reminds me of my wish this birthday…Maybe, just maybe, Jacksonville and it’s peeps will start emulating Alualu’s style and start out on the journey of a culture change in our great city. Jacksonville’s M-O has long been two steps, forward-three steps back. We have so much to offer- great warm weather, the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, affordable yet quality higher education institutions, great economic potential- yet we risk it all with the business -as-usual detrimental, negative self-fulfilling prophecy. Perhaps our greatest attribute is our love and passion for the game of football- we just haven’t channeled that passion in the most effective manner yet! In the age of self-help books, motivational speakers, life coaches and etc. one would think that we would start to get the fact that the world will see us as we see ourselves and now is the time to prove ourselves (I am telling you- Tony Robbins would have an absolute field day in J-ville)
The good news is that we have a lot of positive momentum going into the 2010 season. We have a champion for the cause in Tony Boselli, ex-Jaguar great- he has put his money where his mouth is! He didn’t have to do it- but he did! He stepped up to the plate and took on the challenge of increasing season ticket sales in order to reduce blackouts. He has rallied the troops like no one’s business and most importantly he has invested his time, money and energy into the Jacksonville community. He believes in our city and it is time we started doing the same.
As the Commish of Team Teal, Boselli has helped sell over $13,500 season tickets this year, which is the most since the Jaguars inaugural year. With hopes of selling 4,500 more before the Jags kick off their season in 18 days- we are inching our way out of “black-outsville”! Economic times are tough right now to say the least, but let’s show a lil innovation and split the cost of tickets with our friends and neighbors.
And if you can’t afford to go to the games (which is certainly understandable) support the team in other ways like simply teaching your kids about the Jags! We have a great role model in Maurice Jones- Drew!
[picappgallerysingle id="7159968"]MoJo is a scrappy, determined, positive player with an almost extinct work ethic. We need to raise a generation of believers because if the City of Jacksonville loses the Jaguars we will all pay a major cost in one way or another- true story.
